A phone call won't do it
Letters to the editor are the forum for comment
By Tony Staley
Compass Editor
Periodically, readers call the editor or someone else on The
Compass staff to comment on a letter to the editor they read here
- or occasionally somewhere else.
We thank callers for their comments, but hasten to point out that
it goes no further than that. We then advise them to write their
own letter to the editor in hopes of convincing others about
their views. Many of these callers refuse, so their calls, like a
tree falling in an unpopulated forest, end up being just more
dead wood.
If you have an opinion, put it on paper, sign it (include address
and phone number) and mail it to The Compass, P.O. Box 23825,
Green Bay 54305; or fax it to (920)437-9356; or send it by e-mail
to compassnews@gbdioc.org.
Unless that is done, your comments are heard by only one more
person than hears that tree fall in a forest with no one in it.
