A six-student team from St. Mary Central High School in the Town of Menasha placed second in the annual Science Superbowl at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland.
It is the second time in three years a St. Mary's team has taken second place, reports Michelle Jungbauer, science team coach.
Fourteen teams participated in the event, which is sponsored by Point Beach Energy, Wisconsin Public Service. Each team competes in games in which members answer questions about science and mathematics.
A team must win four games to advance to the championship round.
Members of the winning St. Mary's team were: Brian Page, Rebekah Berger and Franz Stadtmueller, all seniors; Tom Buschman and Sam Rothenbach, both juniors, and Andy Brown, sophomore.
Jim Murphy, also a SMCHS teacher, co-coaches the teams with Jungbauer.
