Review of priest files continues
No task force meetings set after this week
Amid new media allegations, the Green Bay Diocese's Record Review Task Force was scheduled to meet twice this week to continue the process of reviewing diocesan priest files for allegations of sexual abuse of minors.
The task force has not scheduled any other meetings. A determination of future meetings will be based on progress made at this week's sessions, said Tony Kuick, diocesan director of Communications and spokesperson for the Task Force. "We hope to have a public report as soon as possible," he added.
Cases where allegations of sexual abuse of minors have been made against religious priests are being handled by the respective religious orders.
The task force is not involved in these cases, such as recent allegations against Norbertine priest, Fr. Angelo Feldkamp, O.Praem.
Milwaukee update
In other developments, The Archdiocese of Milwaukee reported May 13 that 37 priests in the archdiocese have been accused of sexual abuse since 1926. That reflects two additional priests against whom allegations have been received since March 22, when details of sexual abuse involving minors was given to the Special Commission appointed by Abp. Rembert Weakland, OSB, to review sexual abuse allegations.
In addition, after reviewing its files, the archdiocese added six new names of priests who have been involved in questionable or ambiguous circumstances involving minors, to the list for review by the special commission.
The archdiocese has scheduled listening sessions regarding clergy sexual abuse on May 16, at six parishes.
Abp. Weakland was scheduled to attend one of the sessions along with members of the Special Commission, a member of the Project Benjamin (the archdiocese's office for response to sexual abuse) community advisory board, and archdiocesan deans.
