Concert to benefit community

Diocesan youth groups among performers

High school students from St. Francis & St. Mary Parish, Brussels, and Corpus Christi Parish, Sturgeon Bay, will be among nine performing acts at Lyrics For The Lord Community Concert, 6:30 p.m., Aug. 18 at the Southern Door Community Auditorium, seven miles south of Sturgeon Bay on Hwy. 57. Also performing will be Paul Robertson from St. Bernard Parish, Green Bay, a recipient of the St. Norbert Choral award, and the Silver Lake College Music Scholarship.

Local musicians from Door County will also perform, showcasing a variety of Christian and inspirational music. The nine performing acts will feature more than 30 musicians, stage and sound people who donate their time and talent. Styles of music will include bluegrass, country, gospel, Christian rock, and contemporary worship, both vocal and instrumental.

HELP of Door County, a crisis intervention agency in Sturgeon Bay, is hosting the event. Proceeds from the concert support family-centered events hosted by the Southern Door Family Center.

The suggested donation for the concert is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the Southern Door School District office, HELP of Door County, or at the door. For more information, call (920)856-6616.
