This is the 15th year the awards have been given to individuals
or groups who live in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council
document -- the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern
World -- for which it was named.
This year's recipients, Dennis Brennan of St. Raphael Parish,
Oshkosh; Marge Mattice of Holy Rosary Parish, Kewaunee; and Allen
Stade of St. Joseph Parish, Green Bay, are worthy additions to a
growing list of persons who have put their faith into action by
serving others.
In short, all the recipients over the years have been good
stewards of the gifts God generously gave them. While it is a
coincidence that the Gaudium et Spes Awards are being given at the
same time the diocesan Stewardship thrust is focusing on service,
it's certainly an appropriate coincidence.
While reading about this year's recipients, consider doing
likewise. They are doing what we are all called to do.
