'Service' moves to forefront
Diocese's Stewardship thrust will focus on 'Service' during the entire Easter season
With the start of the Easter season on April 20, the Green Bay
Diocese's Stewardship thrust has moved into its next focus,
shifting from "Prayer" to "Service."
The "Service" focus will be followed throughout the Easter

A special week has been set aside in May to further emphasize
the "Service" focus. May 18 -24 has been designated as "Random Acts
of Kindness Week." During the week, every parish, school, household
and individual will be encouraged to do at least one "Random Act of
Kindness."
A "Random Act of Kindness" has been defined as providing
unexpected help -- with no expectation of receiving something in
return -- for another person who needs guidance or assistance.
The diocese has sent to all parishes a packet of suggestions for
"Random Acts of Kindness." They include delivering baskets to the
elderly or shut-ins; planning a working field trip for religious
education students at a nursing home, shelter or retirement
community; collecting teddy bears to give to a local hospital;
collecting pennies for a community beautification project;
delivering fresh-baked cookies to city workers; giving free car
washes.
Many other suggestions for Random Acts of Kindness can be found
on the web at www.actsofkindness.org.
The diocese is asking all parishes, families and individuals to
focus on Stewardship. During Lent, the emphasis is on "Prayer";
during the Easter season, "Service"; and in the fall on
"Sharing."
