Forums in four cities will focus on books

Schedules listed for monthly series in Oshkosh, Menasha, Green Bay and Manitowoc


Monthly breakfast forums will begin next week at four cities in the Green Bay Diocese under sponsorship of the diocese, the Bishop's Appeal and the host site.

Over the next nine months speakers will focus on a range of books that have affected their lives under the theme, "So Many Books, So Little Time." In their talks they are to discuss the book's vision or values and why they would recommend it to others.

The forums, which begin at 7:15 a.m. and include breakfast, will be offered in Green Bay, Menasha, Oshkosh and Manitowoc.

A schedule, by location, of the speakers and their books follows.


Claude Allouez Forum - St. Matthew Parish, Green Bay (new location):

Sept. 12 - Fr. Dan Felton, pastor of St. Raphael Parish, Oshkosh, Pentecost in Asia: A New Way of Being Church, by Thomas Fox.

Oct. 10 - Jean Peerenboom, books/religion/special sections editor at the Green Bay Press-Gazette, The Moral of the Story by Dr. Paul Wadell.

Nov. 7 - Linda Clay, organizer of St. Norbert College's Zambia Project to assist in sub-Saharan Africa, The Ukimwi Road: From Kenya to Zimbabwe, by Dervla Murphy.

Dec. 12 - Dr. Richard Stevens, professor emeritus of human biology at UW-Green Bay and a faculty member of St. Norbert College's Theology Institute and St. Norbert Abbey's Ministry and Life program, Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis.

Jan. 9 - Brian Mitchell, director of InterGen, an Oshkosh non-profit agency linking church and young adults, A New Kind of Christian: A Tale of Two Friends on a Spiritual Journey, by Brian McLaren.

Feb. 13 - Joan Bartman, parish director of St. Paul Parish, Wrightstown, He Was One of Us, by Rien Poorvliet.

March 12 - George Hartmann, retired president of the North American Commercial Business Division at Georgia-Pacific, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, by Richard Carlson.
