Counting our blessings
Time to say a prayer of thanksgiving
By Tony Staley

Summer made its exit on Tuesday as autumn began.
Our weather this summer was almost perfect for most of the Green
Bay Diocese. We enjoyed plenty of beautiful sunny days (few with
extreme temperatures or humidity) and adequate amounts of rainfall
that usually didn't fall on weekends. The result has been lush
gardens and bountiful crops for our farmers.
But alas, it's not been the case for the entire state. Within a
three-hour drive of Green Bay are drought-stricken areas where corn
and soybean crops are considered a complete loss.
As we treasure both our summer memories and these early fall
days, we'd do well to give thanks to God for the blessings we
receive. We also should offer prayers for those not so fortunate
this summer.
As stewards, we're called to both give thanks for our blessings
and to reach out in concern for others.
