Giving thanks as stewards
God has truly blessed us in so many ways

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, there is much to be thankful for, despite personal hardships we may have faced or the continuing war against terrorism.
God has blessed us beyond imagination. Even the most basic things we consider givens: drinkable water, ample food, electricity and for most of us, adequate shelter and safe neighborhoods, are only dreams for much of the world's people. That says nothing of all our luxuries.
As Christian stewards, we believe all we have is a gift from God. We also know, whether from stewardship, Miss Manners, or our parents, that the proper response to a gift is "Thank you." It's never, "I'd rather have had ..." or "That person's gift is nicer."
God, like any loving parent, gives us the gifts we need. As Jesus said, "Would any of you hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf, or a poisonous snake when he asks for a fish? ... How much more will your heavenly Father give good things..." (Mt 7:9-11).
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to express our gratitude.
