Dr. Joseph Bound of Appleton has been appointed by Bp. David Zubik to be the new director of Education for the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay. Bp. Zubik officially announced Dr. Bound's appointment to pastors, parish directors, principals, religious education directors and diocesan employees on Jan. 4.
Dr. Bound is the president of the ACES/Xavier Education System in Appleton, which is composed of an eight-campus school system for 2,000 students in grades K through 12. As
president, he directs the business, educational, personnel and promotional services of the school system. He was appointed president in 2004.
Between now and mid-March, he will continue to serve as president of ACES/Xavier and spend a portion of his time on diocesan educational matters. In mid-March, he will end his term with ACES/Xavier and officially will work full time for the diocese.
As the diocesan director of Education, Dr. Bound and his staff will provide academic and leadership services in three areas: Catholic schools, religious education (RE) programs and adult faith formation. There are 61 Catholic schools and 170 RE programs in the diocese's 16-county area.
