Jesus Christ is risen, Alleluia!
May this Easter renew within us the desire to become more like our Risen Savior!

My dear Sisters and Brothers in the Risen Lord,
Many of us can in fact recount stories where we have received extraordinary and even sometimes extravagant love from others.
One of those people for me is my Aunt Anne.
Back in 1971 when I was set to begin my studies at Saint Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland, it became apparent that I would need a car. As a 21 year-old who didn't have much money, my Aunt generously offered me a loan to cover the cost of the used car. I promised to repay the loan following my ordination.
True to my word and four years later, I gave her a check with profound gratitude. However, she would not accept it! She claimed it was a debt written off. For me it was an extraordinary and extravagant expression of love.
This Easter, as we celebrate Jesus' resurrection from the dead, we have the opportunity to reflect on how extraordinary and extravagant God's love is for us.
By His life giving death and glorious resurrection, Jesus writes off the debts of sin. He gives us the promise of new life! He affords us the opportunity of the promise of eternal life!
What is needed from us is the sincere desire to change our hearts, our minds and our lives so that each one of us may become more like Jesus who wrote off the debt of our sins.
May this Easter renew within us the desire to become more like our Risen Savior! And with the power of the love of Jesus within us, may we surprise others with the same kind of extravagant love that Jesus has for us.
Grateful for our belief that "Nothing is Impossible with God," I am
Your brother in Christ,
