Four Sinsinawa Dominicans celebrating 50th
The four sisters all have ties to the Green Bay Diocese
Four Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters, with ties to the Green Bay Diocese, will be celebrating jubilees of religious life this summer.
Sr. Ladislas Kust, daughter of the late Matthias and Anna (Mellin) Kust of Green Bay, will celebrate her 60th Jubilee on June 4, with 11 other Sinsinawa Dominicans marking 60 years. A Mass will be held at Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound, located in the southwest part of the state, near Dubuque.
Sr. Ladislas' home parish is Annunciation, Green Bay. Her ministry has been dedicated to the culinary arts, teaching, library science, pastoral ministry, and volunteer work for the
Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC).
In the Diocese of Green Bay, Sr. Ladislas volunteered with the Brown County ARC. She has also ministered in Minnesota, Iowa, New York and Illinois.
Sr. Ladislas is retired and lives in community at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa.
A Jubilee Mass will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, in Queen of the Rosary Chapel, for 29 Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 50 years of religious life. These will include:
Sr. Diane Boutet, (Mathana), originally from Epiphany Parish, Chicago. Sr. Diane's ministry has been dedicated to institutional advancement and elementary education.
In the Diocese of Green Bay, she ministered in the Diocesan Liturgy Office, 1977-1980. She was religious education director at Annunciation Parish, Green Bay and also taught at St. Peter, Oshkosh.
She also taught in Wausau and Faribault, Minn. She has served as pastoral associate at St. Clement, Chicago, and as associate coordinator of religious education and adult religious education at St. Thomas of Villanova, Palatine, Ill., and ministered in California. Sr. Diane is currently development director for Visitation Catholic School, Chicago.
Sr. Patty Gallagher's home parish is St. Cecilia Cathedral, Omaha, Neb. Her ministry has been dedicated to music.
In the Diocese of Green Bay, she taught music and piano and was director of the children's choir at St. Mary Parish, Appleton.
She also served at St. Luke, River Forest, Ill., as music and piano teacher, children's choir director, parish director of music and organist. She also ministered at St. Gertrude Parish as liturgist, music director and organist.
She has served in Minnesota, New Jersey, Washington, D.C. and Florence, Italy. Sr. Patty is currently ministering as a pastoral minister at the Motherhouse in Sinsinawa.
Sr. Virginia Geniesse, daughter of the late Levi and Chloe (Wells) Geniesse of Green Bay, is a daughter of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Green Bay. Sr. Virginia's ministry has been dedicated to pastoral ministry and chaplaincy.
She was staff chaplain at Saint Louis University Hospital (1995-2005), where she is currently a chaplain. She has also ministered in Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Washington, New York, Indiana, Missouri and Minnesota.
