The 46th annual Bishop's Charities Game will feature the Green Bay Packers (1-2) versus the Tennessee Titans (0-3) at 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1, at Lambeau Field. The game will be a rematch of the 2003 Charities Game in which the Titans defeated the Packers 27-3.
Green Bay will look to regain its winning ways in the annual charitable contest. The Packers have lost the last three Bishop's Charities Games after a 12-game winning streak in the series (1991-2002). Overall, the Packers have a 24-20-1 record in Bishop's Charities Games.
A special ceremony featuring Bp. Zubik will be held prior to kickoff. New this year, the Bishop will meet with Packer fans from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. outside the Oneida Nation Gate on the southeast side of the stadium. The Compass, Vocations and Catholic Charities are sponsoring the "meet and greet." Fans are invited to pick up a free gift (while supplies last), free copies of The Compass, and prayer cards. For those interested, Bp. Zubik will also be available for photos.
Vince Lombardi, a devout Catholic, and Bp. Stanislaus Bona started the Bishop's Charities Game in 1961. The game has raised approximately $3.25 million for diocesan charities.
