Mass, rallies, marches will commemorate 'Roe' ruling

Bp. David Zubik will celebrate pro-life Mass at Green Bay parish

The Annual Diocesan Pro-Life Mass, commemorating the 34th anniversary of the Roe v Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Green Bay.

Bp. David Zubik will be the celebrant. Members of the diocesan Respect Life Board will be readers and the Mass will be interpreted for the deaf community. The Knights of Columbus will provide an escort.

Refreshments will follow in the parish hall.

Other events commemorating the Jan. 22 anniversary of the Roe decision include:

Appleton -- Wisconsin Right to Life Fox Valley/Outagamie will sponsor a pro-life rally on Sunday, January 21, 2007 from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's Middle School Auditorium, 2626 N. Oneida Street. Featured speakers are Janet Folger, Fr. John Brancich, FSSP, and Bob Kroll. Refreshments and displays by local pro-life organizations.

Green Bay -- The annual March for Life will take place on Jan. 22 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Baird Place (Webster and Mason Streets). Parking is available east and south of the park.

Manitowoc -- Wisconsin Right to Life Manitowoc will hold a candlelight Vigil for Life on Monday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Lodge, 1335 Johnston Drive.

Marinette -- a Sanctity of Life Rally will be held on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Menominee (Mich.) County courthouse. Refreshments and fellowship will follow.

Shawano -- Wisconsin Right to Life, Menominee/Shawano Chapter will commemorate the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade on Sunday, Jan. 21, with a March for Life starting at 1 p.m. at the Shawano City Hall. The march will go to the county courthouse and back. Refreshments and a talk by Pastor Suzanne Fiedler will follow.

Sturgeon Bay -- Wisconsin Right to Life Door County will sponsor a candlelight vigil walk to commemorate Roe v. Wade on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Gather at the Old Door County Courthouse parking lot (421 Nebraska Street). Prayer at 6:30 p.m. followed by the silent candlelight walk to Door County Memorial Hospital. A social with refreshments will follow in the hospital cafeteria.
