This week, The Compass begins its annual Lenten focus in anticipation of the season's start on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21.
This year's weekly features will include the Sunday readings and columns on them by Auxiliary Bp. Robert Morneau and Fr. Mike Stubbs; small group faith-sharing materials; a series by Fr. Ron Rolheiser; and "Everyday People, Everyday Faith."
This year, "Everyday People, Everyday Faith" - which is a cooperative effort of The Compass, Catholic Charities, Education, Evangelization & Worship, and Stewardship & Pastoral Services, will focus on Reconciliation.
A wide array of writers will examine a variety of topics over the course of Lent, including Reconciliation (Feb. 16), Sin (Feb. 23), God's Compassionate Mercy (March 2), Conversion (March 9), Confession (March 16), Forgiveness (March 23), Penance (March 30), Moral Decision Making and Conscience Formation (April 6).
This week's paper also includes Pope Benedict XVI's Lenten message in English and Spanish and a calendar of suggested activities for Lent. Next week we'll have our annual Lenten Wish List of specific needs for area charities.
We hope that these materials enrich your Lenten experience. As always, we welcome your comments.
