Church welcoming new members
Nearly 300 will join at Easter Vigil in the diocese

Saturday evening, at Easter Vigil Masses across the Green Bay Diocese and around the world, the church will receive thousands of new members. They include catechumens and candidates and total nearly 300 in our diocese alone.
These newest members - the Elect - have prepared through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) process during Lent to receive the sacraments at the Vigil.
Catechumens are those who will be baptized and receive the other sacraments of initiation: Confirmation and First Eucharist.
Candidates have already been baptized, either in the Catholic Church or in another Christian faith, and will make a full profession of faith, be confirmed in our church and receive Eucharist.
They now enter the fourth and final stage of the RCIA: mystagogia. (The other stages are inquiry, the catechumenate, and the period of enlightenment and purification - which occurs during Lent.)
During the Easter season, these newly initiated will enter a period of post-baptismal learning that is marked by their new experience of the sacraments and of full participation in the community.
