Sinsinawa Dominicans mark religious jubilees

Served in Green Bay, Oshkosh, Door County

Three Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters with ties to the Green Bay diocesan area are celebrating jubilees this summer. The Sinsinawa Dominicans were founded in 1847 by Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP, who was declared "Venerable" in 1993. The motherhouse is located on Sinsinawa Mound, in southwestern Wisconsin, near Iowa.

The Sisters marking jubilees are:

Sr. Dorice Suchowski, OP, who will celebrate her 75th Jubilee on June 3. A Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound for her and two other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 75 years.

Sr. Dorice's home parishes are Epiphany, St. Bartholomew, and St. Genevieve, all in the Chicago Archdiocese. Her ministry has been dedicated to teaching and pastoral ministry.

In the Diocese of Green Bay, Sr. Dorice taught at St. Peter, Oshkosh, 1933-1935.

She also taught in Milwaukee and Chicago (at her alma mater high school), and did parish ministry in Texas and Minnesota. She is living in community at Sinsinawa.

Sr. Marie Juan Maney, OP, will celebrate her 60th jubilee on June 3, with 23 other Sinsinawa Dominicans marking the same anniversary.

Sr. Marie Juan's home parish is St. Joseph in Big Bend. Her ministry was dedicated to teaching music.

She taught at St. Patrick in Green Bay (1948 to 1955).

She also taught at Edgewood College in Madison, in Chicago and Rockford in Illinois and in Minnesota. She now resides at the motherhouse, where she continues her music ministry.

Sr. Geraldine Hoye, OP, will celebrate her golden jubilee on July 29 at the motherhouse chapel, with 23 other Sisters also marking their 50th jubilees.

Her home parish is St. Stephen in Chicago. Her ministry has been pastoral ministry and faith formation.

In the Green Bay Diocese, Sr. Geraldine served in northern Door County at what is now Stella Maris Parish from 2001 to 2005.

She has also served, often in rural parish ministry, in Kentucky, Kansas, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Louisiana. She currently is a pastoral associate at St. Leo Parish in Murray, Kan.
