Education leader to head catechesis conference
Lee Nagel, former diocesan director of Total Catholic Education, has been appointed as executive director of the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership (NCCL). He will assume his new position on July 1.
Nagel served the Green Bay Diocese from 1990 to 2005. A native of Bismarck, ND., he received his undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College in Winona, Minn. and his master's from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. He is working on a doctorate in Leadership and Human Behavior from Alliant International University in San Diego.
A popular retreat leader, Nagel is also a religious education instructor and author whose works include Living for the Lord, Love Beyond All Telling, Inspired by the Spirit, and Journey of Faith. For the past year, he has been a national speaker on topics regarding Catholic day school and religious education. He also did consultant work for Benziger, a publisher of parish catechetical materials. He is also known for his hearty laugh and theatrical flair.
In 2006, NCCL honored Nagel with a special award for his outstanding contribution in catechetical ministry.
