The Diocesan Audio Visual Media Center will be transferred on July 1 from Bona Hall on the diocesan campus to the Department of Religious Studies at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. The change was announced this week by Dr. Joseph Bound, director of Education for the Green Bay Diocese, and Dr. George Arnold, president of Silver Lake College.
The move is seen as a collaborative effort between the Department of Education and Silver Lake College.
"At a time when it is vitally important that Catholics receive sound and accurate information about the church, I am pleased that Silver Lake College can join hands with the diocese to ensure the continuity of this service," Arnold said.
Beginning July 1, parishes or individuals will rent materials through the college by phoning Sr. Judanne Stratman, (920)686-6228, or Judy Vogel, (920)686-6118, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
The process for booking, sending and picking up audio visual materials will remain the same as in the past. Orders for next year received until the move will be transferred to the college.
Shelia Schaut, who has worked in the Audio Visual Center for more than 30 years, will assist in moving the materials to the college, and as a consultant as needed. Starting in August, Schaut will become the administrative assistant to the diocese's adult faith formation director, while continuing as the department's bookkeeper.
