Workshop to explore young people's questions, concerns, on dating, marriage
'Reclaiming Eden' set for Oct. 12-14
KAUKAUNA -- Are you a young adult concerned about issues relating to relationships, dating, marriage, and having and raising children?
A young adult group from Elizabeth Ministry Retreat & Resource Center in Kaukauna is planning a fall conference entitled, "Reclaiming Eden" on Oct. 12-14. Geared for those aged 20-49, the workshop was inspired by the late Pope John Paul II's writings on love and the Theology of the Body.
"Our country has a divorce rate of about 50%. STDs are spreading faster than ever and our relationships are suffering the effects. We wanted to do something to help reverse this trend," said Amber Yost, one of the group's facilitators.
Jeannie Hannemann, founder of Elizabeth Ministry International, will be the keynote speaker on Friday evening.
Saturday participants can choose from workshops covering topics such as dating, infertility and inner healing. Vicki Thorn, founder of Project Rachel, the national post-abortive healing organization, is Saturday evening's speaker. Her talk will address the
wounds of the sexual revolution and little known facts about the biochemistry of sex and attraction.
The conference will conclude Sunday with a talk by Margaret Adams, a graduate of the John Paul II Institute at the Catholic University of America. Adams will talk about living out true masculinity and femininity in our culture.
"The weekend will help attendees see sexuality and fertility as a gift and a blessing. It will also help those with past wounds experience healing and wholeness," said Mary Beth Bolle, one of the event organizers.
Event organizers expect a large turn-out.
"This subject of the conference is of great interest to young adults preparing for marriage, married couples and those who want to know how to teach their children about masculinity, femininity, love, dating and marriage," Yost said.
