Eco-freaky

There's eco-friendly, and then there's eco-freaky.
From London comes a story in the Nov. 21 Daily Mail. "Meet the women who won't have babies - because they're not eco-friendly."
According to the news account, several women have chosen to be sterilized to avoid pregnancy and overpopulating the planet.
"Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy 10 years ago, she would know at first hand what it is like to cradle her baby ... But the very thought makes her shudder with horror," the story goes.
"Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm belief she was helping to save the planet. So determined was she that the terrible 'mistake' of pregnancy should never happen again, that she begged her doctor, who performed the abortion, to sterilise her at the same time."
The woman's boyfriend presented her with a congratulatory card.
Toni told the Daily Mail that "having children is selfish."
When Sarah met Mark, they decided to "deny themselves children for the sake of the planet."
"Sarah and I don't need children to feel complete," says Mark. "What makes us happy is knowing that we are doing our bit to save our precious planet."
To use an English term: rubbish.
Is there any more selfish act than to deny a child his or her birthright?
Protecting the environment is our duty as stewards of God's creation. Aborting babies is not part of God's plan.
