Epiphanius got caught in the middle more than once
St. Epiphanius of Salamis proves that saints aren’t always right — nor are they always easy to get along with. Yet, this 4th-century bishop was a strong force in the church and his writings continue to shed light on his era.
Epiphanius was born about 30 miles southwest of Jerusalem at Besanduk. He became a monk in Egypt, later returning to Besanduk to found a monastery and be ordained to the priesthood.
