Greetings from Anaheim

The Catholic Press Association annual convention is being held in Anaheim, Calif., this year. One of the highlights of this year’s convention has been a focus on the new social media and how church communicators can take advantage of it.

On Wednesday, Chris Gunty, associate publisher of the Florida Catholic, led a workshop on “Tweets and Twends: New Methods in Reaching Readers through Social Media: Twitter, Facebook and More. It was a primer for today’s plenary session, an informal dialogue with Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter. (For information on his talk, visit our Twitter page.)

This morning an award presentation was hosted by the Pontifical Mission Societies of the U.S. During the presentation, one of my stories, “Priest shares his insights on illegal immigration,” an interview with Fr. John Reuter, received an honorable mention award.

Here are a couple of photos from today’s activities.
