Good luck to the Oshkosh Lourdes and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy (Marinette/Peshtigo) wrestling teams. Both take the mat on Tuesday evening (Feb. 16) for team sectionals. The Lourdes Knights are in Ozaukee to take on Oostburg in the first round, while Lena/St. Thomas travels to Coleman to face Reedsville. Two victories are required to advance to team state competitionin Division 3.
Diocesan high school wrestling teams have the potential to be well represented at the individual state meet as well.
Lourdes had four individual regional champions on Saturday. Austin Loos (103), Dylan Loos (112), A.J. Zemke (135) and Matt Schettle (145) all finished first in Laconia.
Defending state champion Mitch Kiel of Roncalli (Manitowoc) was the 140-pound regional crown at Reedsville.
Lena/St. Thomas boasts six regional champions from the Amherst Regional including Ryan Yost (119), Richard Garrigan (125), Dominique Ramirez (135), Cody Desterheft (171), Mike Crozier (215) and Danny Miller (285).
