Fr. Stingle dies at age 95

Fr. Lawrence (Casey) Stingle, 95, died Sunday, May 30.

Fr. Stingle was born April 21, 1915 in Appleton to Anton and Caroline (Heintz) Stingle. He attended St. Francis Seminary, and was ordained at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay, on May 31, 1941 by Bishop Paul P. Rhode.

Fr. Stingle’s first appointment was as assistant at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Green Bay. He then served as assistant at St. Luke Parish, Two Rivers (1946).  He was appointed pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Florence and St. Norbert, Long Lake (1954); St. Ann Parish, Saint Anna (1958); and St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, Neenah (1959, founding pastor)). Fr. Stingle also served on the Priest Personnel Board, the College of Consultors and the Presbyteral Council. He retired retired from active ministry on July 1, 1985.

Reception of the body will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, at St. Agnes Church, Green Bay. Visitation will follow until the parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, Neenah, on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.

The funeral liturgy, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 4, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, Neenah, with Bishop David L. Ricken as celebrant and Fr. Charles Brooks as homilist. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
