Holes in their socks

By | August 25, 2010

Think about going back to school without new underwear. Imagine changing your shoes in class and revealing the holes in your old socks.

That’s the reality for many local children. Trying to change that reality is the goal of the third annual “A Pair and a Spare” campaign run by the Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition in Green Bay. From Sept. 7 through Sept. 29, the coalition will run its “Undercover Challenge,” asking for donations of new socks, bras, undershirts, briefs, and long underwear in all sizes. Donations will be accepted dozens of locations including businesses, schools and churches like St. John in Seymour, Resurrection in Allouez, St. John in Howard and St. Willebrord in Green Bay.
