Seek and destroy: Truth versus lies

By | March 16, 2011

“Fifty-four percent of women who have abortions used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant, while 8 percent of women who have abortions never used a method of birth control.” (Guttmacher Institute, “In Brief,” Facts on Induced Abortion in the United States, 1/2011.) Contraception actually increases abortions.

Abby Johnson, best-selling author of “Unplanned,” writes about working eight years at Planned Parenthood, “…believing that its purpose was primarily to prevent unwanted pregnancies, thereby reducing the number of abortions,” until she assisted with an ultrasound-guided abortion.

As the baby in utero “began struggling to turn and twist away” from the doctor’s invasive instrument, she soon saw its “tiny body violently twisting. … I had believed a lie! I had blindly promoted the company line … why hadn’t I searched out the truth for myself … living a lie, spreading a lie and hurting the very women I so wanted to help.”

PP clinics aren’t medical centers; they’re killing centers that feed off young women who are fed lies in order to make over $1 billion/year ($363 million taxpayer funding). A not for profit?

In February, Gwen Moore, a Wisconsin Congresswoman, stated that these unintended pregnancies result in children having to eat Ramen noodles and mayonnaise sandwiches, implying that it is precisely why Planned Parenthood is needed — so that these children wouldn’t have to be subjected to poverty. She said PP is “healthy for children.” Which ones? The ones that are to be aborted?

Dewayne Wickham’s commentary (3/4/11, in a local paper), pleads the case to continue giving taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood. He exploits the line “to reduce unintended pregnancies,” stating that America wants abortion, and how frightening to think that women may be hurt and resort to “back alleys.” The fact is that women are being hurt.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, faces eight counts of murder in the deaths of a woman following a botched abortion, along with the deaths of seven babies who were born alive following illegal late-term abortions, and killed by severing their spinal cords with scissors (1/19/11, Walt Hunter, CBS3). Are these eight innocent murders worse than other abortions?

People say they’re tired of hearing about abortion. If it were not funded, not legal, not available, not lied about to innocent women, not twisted by the media as a saving grace for unintended pregnancies and solution for poverty, and did not seek and destroy 3,400 babies each day, then we wouldn’t have to discuss it.

We are expected to seek truth, and destroy the culture of death. So let’s pray, fast and make Lent fruitful for life. From the moment a baby is conceived we pray, “Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”
