Bishop Ricken

The Year of Faith falls in the midst of local efforts to implement Bishop Ricken’s parish initiatives that were announced in his pastoral letter, “Parishes: Called to be Holy, Fully Engaged, Fully Alive.” In that pastoral letter, issued June 12, 2011, Bishop Ricken offered six focus areas that every parish was asked to study and undertake.

Rather than put these focus areas on hold during the Year of Faith, Bishop Ricken, in a Sept. 12 letter to pastors and parish leadership, noted that many of the suggestions for celebrating the Year of Faith are embodied in the activities parishes have chosen for implementing his pastoral letter.

Bishop Ricken has chosen a diocesan logo for the Year of Faith which incorporates the six pastoral focus areas from his pastoral letter along with the universal theme of the Door of Faith (Acts 14:27) chosen by Pope Benedict XVI.
