Scheduled on the heels of All Saints Day, the theme for Youth Jam this year was “Searching for Sainthood.” Keynote speaker Bob Lesnefsky (Righteous B), a rapper and founder of Dirty Vagabonds inner city ministry, challenged the teens throughout the day to accept their call to sainthood and to truly “put God at No. 1.”

Breakout sessions throughout the day included presentations on how to love, pray and act like a saint. The theme was manifested further by the presence of actors dressed as saints, who mingled with the teens throughout the day.

Youth Jam concluded with a Mass celebrated by Bishop David Ricken. Leading the crowd in song was the Life Teen Band from St. Francis of Assisi in Manitowoc.

At the end of the Mass, teens were encouraged to continue their journey toward sainthood by seeking support from the Scriptures, the Eucharist, their priests and youth ministers and from each other.

Following Mass, Righteous B led the teens in a Catholic rap concert, teaching them to “bounce, hop, drop and yeee-haw.”
