ALLOUEZ — Catholic Charities will host its inaugural Gala, 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Rock Garden Supper Club, 1951 Bond St., Green Bay. The goal is to make the fundraising event an annual offering, said Ted Phernetton, diocesan director of Catholic Charities.

“It’s an opportunity to bring together a mix of folks in the community, introduce them to Catholic Charities and generate support,” he said. “People of all faiths are invited to support an organization that serves people of all faiths.”

Bishop David Ricken will speak at the event about service to the poor and marginalized and Christ’s call to serve.

A variety of music will be performed by national entertainer and recording artist David Seering.

“David is from Green Bay, so he understands the mission,” said Phernetton. “He has a big heart and enjoys sharing his gifts with people. If David could perform every night of the week to help people, he would.”

Seering, who now resides in Florida, has served as a host of the Northeast Wisconsin Cerebral Palsy Telethon for more than 25 years.

Bill Jartz, news anchor at WBAY TV 2, will serve as emcee at the gala and assist with a special auction. Catholic Charities services will be up for bid.

“For example, guests may bid on providing mental health services,” said Phernetton. “Twenty-five hours of case management services may be up for bid. Hopefully, by the end of the evening, we will have a large number of people participating, including people who will give us $25 for a gas card or a $25 gift card to buy groceries.”

Phernetton added that the event would not be possible without the generosity of its sponsors. Hospital Sisters Health System is the founding event sponsor. Sponsorships have also been provided by the Norbertines of St. Norbert Abbey, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Catholic Foundation, Nicolet National Bank and Ministry Health Care.

All proceeds will support programs and endowment of Catholic Charities, which provides such services as individual and family counseling, adoption, family strengthening, refugee and immigration services and financial health counseling.

Gala tickets are available for $100 per person. For more information, call Catholic Charities at (920) 272-8234.
