ALLOUEZ — The Compass will be sponsoring a bus pilgrimage to Philadelphia for the eighth World Meeting of Families next September. The meeting’s theme is “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive.”
The trip will be led by Bishop David Ricken and run from Sept. 22 through Sept. 27. Peg VandeHey, diocesan marriage and family life coordinator, will also be on the tour.
The pilgrimage cost will include registration for the World Meeting, which features such speakers as Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, archbishop of Boston, and Helen Alvaré, a consultor for the Pontifical Council of the Laity. Pope Francis is expected to arrive Sept. 25, when papal events will begin. For more information, visit www.worldmeeting2015.org.
The Compass’ pilgrimage will include hotel accommodations, five hot breakfasts, a lunch and most dinners. Mass will be celebrated at the National Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel. Pilgrims will also visit the St. Gianna Molla Shrine in Bucks County and more to be announced at a later date.
Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia will be part of his first papal visit to the United States and the first confirmed stop on what is expected to be a more extensive papal visit to North America.
