GREEN BAY — A graduation Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Sunday, May 3, 4 p.m., at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., to honor 18 graduates of the Discípulos de Cristo Program. Bishop David Ricken preside at the Mass.
Discípulos de Cristo, a lay formation program for the Hispanic community, was initiated in 2006 to prepare men and women for service in their local parishes. The nine courses of study focus on spirituality, Scripture, theology and pastoral ministry.
Most participants are volunteers in various ministries within their parishes. The educational component of the Discípulos de Cristo Program provides the participants with a foundation for leadership roles. The spiritual component consists of biannual days of reflection, spiritual guidance and the encouragement of their pastoral staff and parish community.

Soy miembro de la parroquia de Saint Thomas The Apostle en Newton. Gracias a todo lo que aprendí en Discípulos de Cristo estoy feliz sirviendo a la comunidad Hispana en la Parroquia de San Francisco de Assisi en Manitowoc. A pesar de la distancia para asistir a clases, manejar 45 minutos cada domingo, no fue un obstáculo para continuar y llegar hasta mi meta de graduarme.
I am a member of St. Thomas the Apostle in Newton. Thanks to all that I learned in Discípulos de Cristo, I am happy serving the Hispanic community at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc. Even though I had to drive 45 minutes every Sunday, this was not an obstacle to continue and reach my goal to graduate from the program.
