ALLOUEZ — Bishop David Ricken will ordain three men to the priesthood on Saturday, June 30, 10 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay.

The laying on of hands is part of the rite of ordination. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “The laying on of hands by the bishop, with the consecratory prayer, constitutes the visible sign of this ordination.” (Sam Lucero | The Compass)

The sacrament of holy orders will be conferred upon José López, Gregory Parent and Kyle Sladek. (See links to stories below.)

Due to limited seating at the cathedral, well-wishers are encouraged to attend the priest-candidates’ Masses of Thanksgiving. The list of Masses are as follows:

  • Deacon López: St. Philip the Apostle Church, 312 Victoria St., Green Bay, (English) Saturday, June 30, 4 p.m.; (Spanish) Sunday, July 1, noon.
  • Deacon Parent: SS. Peter and Paul Church, 720 N. Baird St., Green Bay; Sunday, July 1, 3 p.m.
  • Deacon Sladek: St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, Sunday, July 1, 9 a.m.
