Summer program supports the arts

DE PERE — Among the summer programs that support the arts is Next Stage offered by St. Norbert College Music Theatre. For the past six years, Next Stage has served as an immersive musical theatre program for high-school–aged performers, instrumentalists and technicians. Participants receive skill training and practical experience.

The culmination of the program is a public performance. Next Stage will present a production of “The SpongeBob Musical,” Aug. 12-15 at the Walter Theatre on the St. Norbert campus. The show is the musical adaptation of Nickelodeon’s long-running animated children’s sitcom.

This year’s cast, crew and pit musicians come from 20 local high schools, including Appleton East, Appleton Xavier, Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, Brillion, Daskool Academy, De Pere, Denmark, Neenah, Green Bay East, Green Bay Southwest, Kimberly, Little Chute, Luxemburg – Casco, Notre Dame Academy, Pulaski, St. Mary’s Catholic, West De Pere and Wrightstown:

Aren Damayo, Ashwaubenon High School, plays Old Man Jenkins, a sardine, a sea anemone, a pirate, a sardine devotee, a teen fan and is in the ensemble.
