ALLOUEZ — Share how your family practices their faith and fosters vocations in the home for a chance to win a vacation.

“The World Meeting of Families Video Contest,” sponsored by the Office of Marriage, Family Life and Pro-Life and the Office of Vocations, opens on March 19, the feast of St. Joseph. Families are asked to answer two questions:

  1. How does your family practice your faith at home?
  2. How does your family talk about vocations?

Video submissions are due on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8. Videos must be three minutes or less in length and will be judged on creativity (engaging and features style), content (answers the two questions) and theme (showcases the uniqueness of the family). Top prize is a $1,200 gift certificate to Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Second- and third-place prizes will also be awarded.

Catholics from across the world were expected to gather in Rome for the World Meeting of Families, June 22-26, but the event was changed to invitation-only. The Vatican and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) asked all dioceses to celebrate locally, said Elisa Tremblay, Marriage and Life Ministries director for the Diocese of Green Bay.

“One of the national ideas was to do a video contest,” she said. “It plays on the idea of TikTok and fun videos. Families need to answer both questions and, obviously, creativity is going to be important.”

“We want to highlight families across the diocese,” said Carolyn Lefeber, event coordinator for the Office of Marriage, Family Life and Pro-Life. “We are hoping that this engages young Catholic families, but also inspires college students and their families. Ultimately, the family is the root of prayer, vocations and career choice.”

All videos will become property of the Diocese of Green Bay and could be used in promotional materials.
