Deacon Johnathan Turba to be ordained to priesthood on June 11 in De Pere

DE PERE – Deacon Johnathan Turba, 30, will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, June 11, at St. Norbert Abbey Church in De Pere. He is the son of Michael and Patricia (Fredrick) Turba of Hortonville.

Deacon Turba was vested in the white Norbertine habit on Aug. 27, 2016, and professed simple vows on Aug. 28, 2018. He professed solemn vows on Aug. 28, 2021, and was ordained to the diaconate on Sept. 4, 2021. 

In 2010, Deacon Turba graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in music education. In May 2022, he graduated from the Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago, receiving a master’s of divinity degree.

During his time in Chicago, he has served in a variety of ministerial capacities, including helping with campus ministry at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and serving as deacon at Immaculate Conception-Five Holy Martyrs Parish in the Brighton Park neighborhood.Deacon Turba, along with Norbertine Fr. Jordan Neeck, were co-hosts of the Norbertine order’s podcast “Canons on the Run.” As marathon runners, they shared their Catholic faith journey, “running the race” that God set before them.
