2000 Bishop's Appeal closes in on $4 million
Sixty-seven parishes reach or exceed this year's target
Bishop's Appeal 2000 has topped the 90% mark. As of June 15, the drive has received more than $3.65 million from 46,484 donors. This means the Bishop's Appeal has reached 91.3% of its target of $4 million.
The total includes gifts from 6,424 people who had not given to the 1999 Appeal, reports Ron Shaha, assistant director of Stewardship and Development for the diocese.
He adds that, while the number of pledges is about 200 behind last year at this time, the average gift has increased by nearly 10% to $152.
New to the appeal pledge cards this year was a way for people to pay by credit card. Shaha says that 719 people used this method.
So far, 67 parishes have met or exceeded their targets in the annual appeal, Shaha says.
