Retreat House addition to be dedicated July 1

A dedication service will be held on Saturday, July 1, for the building addition and renovation at Holy Name Retreat House on Chambers Island. Bp. Robert Banks will celebrate Mass at 1 p.m. in the chapel followed by the dedication blessing. Boat restrictions limit attendance to the dedication service to invite only.

The improvements to the facility will make retreats on Chambers Island more inviting, said Dcn. Bob Penzenstadler, spiritual director for Holy Name Retreat House.

"It is now a barrier free facility with the elevator," he said. "It opens it up to people with physical restrictions."

"The five porches add to the spirituality of the place," he added. "They are all very beautiful. Three overlook Lake Mackaysee, while the other two overlook the Bay of Green Bay."

Completion of the $1,350,000 building project is scheduled for the end of July.

Holy Name Retreat House is owned and operated by the Diocese of Green Bay. Chambers Island is located seven miles from Fish Creek in Door County. For retreat information, call (920)437-7531, ext. 8296.
