Go to Eucharistic Congress
Jubilee Year event offers a chance to grow
By Tony Staley
Catholics of our diocese will have an excellent opportunity to grow spiritually and intellectually
Oct. 13-14 at the Green Bay Diocese's Eucharistic Congress.
This Jubilee Year celebration at St. Norbert College in De Pere will feature several speakers,
including Bp. Robert Banks, who will preside at the closing Mass at 4 p.m. Oct. 14.
Other keynote speakers on both days will be Bp. Robert Morneau, auxiliary bishop of Green
Bay; Dr. Michael Corso of Boston College's Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral
Ministry; Peter Ghiloni of the College of Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass; and Dr. Maureen
Sullivan, OP, of St. Anselm College, Manchester, N.H.
The speakers will discuss various aspects of Eucharist, a reality so beautiful and multi-layered
that we still can't fully understand or appreciate it after 2,000 years of Christianity.
In preparation for Congress, I recommend prayerfully reading and meditating on Bp. Banks'
pastoral letter on the Eucharist (available at most parishes); Jn 6:1-69 (which we heard July 30-Aug. 27 at Sunday Mass); and Fr. Ron Rolheiser's book, The Holy Longing.
See you at Congress.
