Summoned to Serve

Focus: Believe - Repent - Take Action!

Opening Prayer

All: I ask this in Jesus' name.

I: My Lord, give me wisdom to discover your ways.

All: I ask this in Jesus' name.

II: My Lord, I am seeking mercy for myself and my neighbor.

All: I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Scripture Sharing: What thought, line or image from the Scripture readings caught your attention?

Reflection: During the Lenten season, we are asked to reflect on our gifts from God and how we can use them for His glory. We are expected to use our gifts to share our faith with others. We will be tested along the way - even as Jesus was. Like Jesus, we need to be prepared, armed with the knowledge of God's will. Jesus gave the greatest gift - his life. Do we prepare ourselves to resist temptation?

Faith Sharing

1. Name your gifts and how you can use them to share your faith.

2. What has God given you to help you resist temptation?

3. How can you recognize people, places, and things that are occasions of sin?

4. Through these readings what is God asking you to do for others as part of the body of Christ, his Church?

Action Response: How are you 'summoned to serve'?

1. Pray one hour extra each week during Lent, or go to an extra service at your parish church.

2. Give comfort to someone you wouldn't normally talk to.

3. Learn more about God's ways by reading and talking to others - share your faith.

4. Join some church group in an activity.

Closing Prayer

Individuals offer their intentions to bring to prayer.

God of power and might, as we walk the path of life with you, help us not to look back and trip on our mistakes. Forever keep our eyes looking ahead to you. May your Spirit touch each person we meet with some sign that you are deeply a part of our lives. For your glory and honor, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
