Stewardship Day features Louisiana development official
Prayer, ministry, finance and emphasizing the spiritual are
making a financial difference for one Louisiana diocese.
The director of development for that diocese will talk about how
that spiritual emphasis has led to a doubling of contributions to
weekly parish offertory collections at Diocesan Stewardship Day
Thursday, April 26, at St. Bernard Parish, Appleton.
Mark Blanchard of the Baton Rouge Diocese will give the keynote
talk at the conference, scheduled from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The day also will feature a Stewardship panel with Blanchard;
Auxiliary Bp. Robert Morneau; Cindi Brawner, diocesan director of
Stewardship and Development; and Fr. Roy Geenan, Joyce Naps, Gary
and Helen Crevier and Steve Figi, members of the St. Patrick
Parish, Menasha, Stewardship Committee, which has spoken at the
national Stewardship conference.
Blanchard has been the director of development in Baton Rouge
since 1985. The diocese has mandated a Stewardship process of
prayer, ministry and finances in all its 72 parishes since 1987,
resulting in an increase in collections from $16 million to more
than $32 million. Its effort has received international awards.
Next week's seminar is open to parish leaders, Stewardship
committees and educators.
