New London woman wins Volunteer Educator Award
Kim Schroeder received the Volunteer Educator Award at a banquet
"Celebrating Our Volunteers 2001" April 3 at the Paper Valley
Hotel in Appleton. School Specialty sponsored the award.
Schroeder was recognized for instituting the Community Service
and Awareness Program at Most Precious Blood School in New
The program provides students with opportunities to give back to
their school, parish, community and the world.
Projects include a pen pal relationship with an eight-year-old
girl from Guatemala, student visits to St. Joseph Nursing
residence for the elderly, Peacemakers projects in honor of
Martin Luther King Jr., cards for Meals on Wheels trays, a food
collection for the Community Cupboard and a toy collection for
Most Precious Blood Parish Outreach Center.
Schroeder, a mother of six including two children that attend
Most Precious Blood school, is the niece of Gaudium et Spes
recipient Roberta Prunty.
