Catholic cemeteries vote to assist Catholic Charities
Association meets right after terrorist attacks on the nation and offers its help

Diocesan delegates to the National Catholic Cemetery Conference convention in Anaheim, Calif., voted unanimously on Sept. 18 to donate $50,000 to Catholic Charities USA, for relief efforts in New York City, Washington, D.C, and Pennsylvania following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. The convention was held the week after the attacks.
Because of the attacks, only 60 of the 530 registrants attended.
Much time was spent in prayer and reflection over the events of the previous week, and what events such as these can mean to cemeterians.
Cemeterians in the affected areas have been offered loans of equipment and personnel, as needed, by Catholic cemeteries in the adjoining states.
