Bishop Banks names seven
for Independent Review Board

Board will assess sexual abuse allegations involving priests, other church personnel

Bishop Robert Banks on Aug. 1 named a seven-member Independent Review Board to assess allegations of sexual abuse involving priests and other church personnel, and to review diocesan sexual abuse policies. The board includes four lay people, one priest, one deacon and one woman religious.

The "Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People" approved in June by the U.S. bishops required each Diocese to establish an Independent Review Board, the majority of whose members would be lay people.
