The caretaker of the diocesan Shrine at Robinsonville is hoping that a small group of Hispanic men will encourage Catholics in the Green Bay Diocese to reclaim a part of their spiritual heritage on Aug. 15.

The men - Martin Torres, Rigoberto Moreno, Timoteo Lopez, Rene Cortez, Ruben Cortez, Pedro Cortez, and another man known to them only as Ricardo - have resurrected the tradition of walking in pilgrimage from Green Bay to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help near New Franken, northeast of Green Bay.

The feast of the Assumption has always been the largest celebration of the year at the Shrine, where Bp. Robert Banks will preside at an Outdoor Mass and Rosary Procession at 10 a.m. Aug. 15.

In the 1950s, pilgrimages from Green Bay to the Shrine were common as a sign of faith and of devotion to Jesus and Mary, said Karen Tipps, the Shrine's caretaker.   Full story ...
