Hmong/Lao Pastoral Care Worker

This 15 hours per week position works under the direction of the Pastoral Services Consultant for Pastoral Care working closely with the Hmong/Lao Catholic communities and the parishes in the Diocese of Green Bay. This position provides leadership, pastoral care, training, and catechetical services, consultation, and direction for Hmong/Lao spiritual and pastoral needs. Responsibilities include evangelization, providing assistance with the planning of Catholic ceremonies, developing and training of others to provide outreach in the Hmong/Lao communities, assisting youth, parish priests, and pastoral teams in working with Hmong/Lao families, providing catechetical services to the Hmong/Lao communities, and consulting with parishes on Hmong/Lao issues as the need arises. High school diploma or its equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred supplemented with experience in church ministry. A fluency in the Hmong/Lao languages and English is also strongly desired. Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both languages, and understanding of the Hmong and Lao cultures, customs, and rituals, an appreciation for the Catholic faith, and the ability to develop educational materials, resources, and training models are also desired. Nurses must be able to work independently, be extremely reliable, and deal well with the public. Annual seasonal flu clinic employment is available for nurses who wish to develop a long-term relationship with WINS, Occupational Health Services. Clinics generally begin in Mid-October and run through November. The clinics are offered in grocery stores, schools, churches and private businesses & industries in your area. Clinics are usually conducted six days a week (occasionally on Sundays). Clinics times vary. Flexible scheduling around your current job and family obligations is offered. $20/hourly wage plus paid travel time and travel expenses reimbursed. Earn extra cash for holidays, vacations, etc. Training and all supplies are provided. Qualified Nurses must have: Current unencumbered RN license in state(s) of practice; Current CPR certifications; Dependable transportation; Their own malpractice insurance.
