SUAMICO -- During Advent each person is called to prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas. This preparation varies among families and among parishes.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is part of the Advent preparation at St. Benedict Parish in Suamico and St. Pius Parish in Little Suamico.

Fr. Gary Dantinne, pastor, like many priests in the diocese, devotes extra hours to provide parishioners an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent.

One night during Advent, a prayer service followed by individual Reconciliation, is held at St. Benedict. The pastor from a neighboring parish joins the prayer service, hoping to accommodate parishioners in a timely manner. Fr. Dantinne returns the favor a week later by attending the neighboring parish's prayer service.

"During Advent, as we prepare our hearts for the birth of Christ, we try to become more mindful of imperfections so we can fully appreciate what God has done for us," Fr. Dantinne said. "This sacrament allows us to prepare ourselves to enter a deeper relationship to the Lord."   Full story ...
